Somebody Shoot a Moose!

If Hollywood really marches in lockstep to a Democratic bias, will it PUL-EEZE show us Dems a thing or two about showmanship?

Nobody wants to hear about a health care plan that will save lives and kick the greedy insurance companies in their fat, pampered keesters… we want explosions!

And nobody cares about restructuring income taxes so the privileged rich will have to stop getting even filthier rich with unfair tax cuts that ignore the working majority… we want sex! Illicit sex, if you’ve got it!

And who isn’t sick of arguing over whether or not the surge worked? What surge? What war? What sad roster of baby-faced 19-year-olds who died on Iraqi soil? We want special effects! How about a pale, wrinkled ghost of a presidential candidate who is led around on a leash by his running mate, a former beauty queen who is a dead shot, with her sights set on reproductive rights? It’s OK if she wears glasses, as long as she wears skirts instead of pantsuits.

Come on, Hollywood… show us Dems how to take back the national spotlight! Should we fabricate an outrageous lie and repeat it again and again and again until, thanks to name recognition, it becomes the truth? Should we co-opt the Republican Platform for change and brazenly claim it as our own? (Wait a minute… no good, Republicans already did that.) Should we ask the Makeup Department to put lipstick on O’Bama and Biden? Appeal to hockey moms with a “Save the Pit Bulls” campaign? Sell bumper stickers that brag, “Michelle Can Beat up Cindy?” What, Hollywood, WHAT?

Somebody shoot a moose.

So I don't normally forward the pro dem, anti republican stuff that i get barraged with daily, but I'm going to start because we can't count on Hollywood. Did you hear the news today? McCain's camp says they hadn't planned for it (bullshit!) but now they think they will have Palin and him do more joint appearances. Every fucking neo-con now wants to see Palin they could care less about McCain!...talk about a rock star! 23,000 people showed up today in Virginia to see these two pieces of shit give a speech. How many do you think would have shown if he had picked Romney of Gulliani? 10?

The pollsters are saying McCain is starting to poll ahead and Palin has become the beauty queen (pig in lipstick I say!). We had better watch it because it is looking like we are about to have the election stolen right out from under us again.

Really? With fifty-some days left in the election we are going to talk about inane banter and silly semantics while the economy flounders in the toilet, the two mega mortgage giants fail, our soldiers continue to die, Americans continue to lose jobs, the climate spins out of control, the rights of women are threatened by a woman and people want to write hatred into California’s state constitution. The Republicans are playing the media alike a fiddle and, like always, the media bellows every note that is dictated to them. I can’t believe this is happening again.

Pat, your post made me smile. But then I remembered the McCain/Palin ad I saw last night that stated Palin stood up to big oil! And did what? Invited them to drill all over the state of Alaska! Surely, Obama/Biden is not going to let them get away with this crap.

Im with Roy, it scares me...I think Obama/Biden should air an ad that advertises OVER AND OVER agin for people to tune into the debates...and I hope Obama/Biden bring McCain/Palin to their collective knees (although as old as McCain is won't be hard to bring him to his knees) I hope they back Palin in a corner and make her cry....

I remember thinking after Hillary's awful treatment by Obama's side during the primaries: McCain will probably pick Sarah Palin to steal all the press and compete for Obama's rock star status, and make a bizarre chivalric attempt at stealing the dissatisfied women of the Democratic party. I was half kidding but it turned out to be true.

Obama brought this on himself by not riding the wave of interest in his protracted fight with Hillary. She was the obvious VP choice. She would have electrified the party by joining the ticket and the press would have stayed on the two of them throughout the rest of the season. Imagine Clinton's speech at the convention... if she were actually ON THE TICKET. Instead, I was left wondering, uh, WHY is Joe Biden up there again?

McCain would not have picked Palin then, it wouldn't have made any sense, and it would have been near impossible to steal press from Obama/Clinton. Plus, Clinton would have brought her base of the middle American working class -- the ones put off when Obama talks about the price of Arugula, the "Reagan Democrats" that are once again pivotal to this election, the same ones who don't like being condescended to by the Left.

I don't know how my party has gotten so good at screwing up these elections. I deplore McCain, but I really don't think this situation wouldn't exist if our side were better at the game.

Oh, and it is time to allow third party candidates into the debates. It would force both Democrats and Republicans to actually address the issues instead of trotting out the same ineffectual talking points. Imagine having to actually ANSWER for things instead of just spewing the same, tired party rhetoric. Imagine Nader or McKinney or Ron Paul actually going after McCain on the stuff Obama has been too cautious to approach. Imagine them forcing the Left to actually take a more left-leaning stance on issues like offshore drilling -- you can't tell Obama from McCain on this issue as of now.

Well, again I say that we don't if Hillary would accept the bid..which I am absolutely sure they check the person will accept the bid before offering...so we really don't know the entire story. Actually, maybe the battle with Hillary for the Dem. Nod will help them fight the Palin/McCain ticket...OH WAIT---did I say that backwards???!!!!!! I think in any debates Obama and Biden need to FIGHT LIKE HELL...just say STRAIGHT UP...I am Pro-Choice, what are you? I am for getting our soldiers, out of Iraq, what about you? I am for decreasing tax for the people in this range of earnings and here is how I will do it, what about you? I am for ridding big corporate America from the tax credits they receive and using that income to restore our Nation's economy back to where it should be, how do you plan to do it? I mean...they need to NOT be afraid...when someone says something like you can't just go in there and remove our soldiers....I think he should say...YES I CAN and that's exactly what I am going to do....instead of worrying that Repubs. will spin it as Cut and Run...who cares!!!!! I think if he presents his total and complete views, and state exactly how and why...it will show how he is going to CHANGE and the only plan for change McCain/Palin have in mind is to IMPOSE further on us their VERY right wing, EXTREME Christian beliefs...more judgmental Jack A**es in White House...just what the country needs---UGH!!!! Seriously guys...I can't take it. And unfortunate for me, I like in KY where 90% of the people I'm around everyday are Repubs...due to their EXTREMIST Christian beliefs....DRIVES ME NUTS)!!!!!!!!!!!
