It's about Love

If you were among the readers who commented on my blog about the passage of Prop 8, you will recall the soulful remarks of Raisin in the Sun... a friend who helped us realize the true impact of this hateful assault on the core of gay and lesbian identities.

Many of you offered Raisin encouragement and support... and now he is giving back, by composing the melody, writing the lyrics, and providing the vocals for a gorgeous song, It's About Love.

Have a listen. You will be moved, and amazed that Raisin, who has a voice like creme brule by firelight, isn't already a recording star.

Beautiful indeed!
I was wondering if anyone saw that Prop 8, the Musical with Jack Black in it as Jesus? I was so HAPPY to hear someone say in a public arena that you cannot pick and choose what you want to believe or not believe from the bible.....I was so glad when Jack Black stated, yes and it also says you should stone your wife to death and things of that nature....
and it also emphasized separation of church and state...something I am very passionate about.
Love your video and song Raisin:)

I am so appalled and confused about how this vote went down. I mean, California??? If that had happened in Kentucky, where I live, I would have been disgusted but not surprised.
Raisin in the sun, I am sure you feel down but please dont feel out. I know it's corny and cliche but love can move mountains...It should not really matter who the love is between. Stay strong!!

Stacy, you think you're appalled Prop 8 passed, you should read why people are saying it passed.

This op/ed says why that's BS.

I don't know if any of you noticed while you were listening to Johnny's song, but that was an impressive photo-montage of blissed-out newly married couples. I don't know how you accumulated all those, Johnny... but I really enjoyed that part of your YouTube show.

I loved the photomontage, too.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. Some of the visitors to YouTube haven't been so kind, but at least they are hearing my song and maybe it will make them think. As for the photos, the protest shots are ones that I took while marching on LA City Hall on November 15. The photos of the couples are from a few friends and then many are from the West Hollywood website (used by permission.) George Takei and his husband Brad were gracious to send me a special photo from their wedding day.

John, all great artists have jerks who try to bring them down. ANd I think all great causes are worth the fight.

I'm encouraged by the national outpouring of support for this cause. The spark is lit and I believe that things are going to change.
