Liar Liar, Thong on fire

Sarah Palin has relieved me of any feminist obligation I may have felt to empathize with her in the wake of her Katy Couric interview fiasco.

After selling her soul to the demon mind-set of Karl Rove by hate mongering on the campaign trail, Ms. Palin has now stated in public, on camera, for the record, that the Troopergate report found “no unlawful or unethical activity on my part,” and that the report “vindicates” her.

Huh?

An editorial published Monday by the Anchorage Daily News stated, “Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian.” It continued: Ms. Palin and her husband, Todd, “had no sense that the power of the governor’s office carries a special responsibility not to use it to settle family scores. They had no sense that legal restrictions might prevent the troopers from firing Wooten. They had no sense that persistent queries from the governor’s office might be perceived as pressure to bend state personnel laws.”

It added: “And her Orwellian claims of ‘vindication’ make this blemish on her record look even worse.”

Sarah Palin has now demonstrated that she can lie with the best of the Bush Administration’s henchmen. Her response to Troopergate is a reminder that, far from being a maverick in heels, she is just another Republican yes-woman who thinks it’s OK to lie because the end justifies the means. And adding insult to injury, she continues to claim that Barack Obama is lying to America about his “real identity.”

Palin’s hypocrisy is so foul it could induce vomiting in case of accidental poisoning. Too bad there’s nothing accidental about the rabble-rousing lies she uses to poison the minds of McCain supporters, who are desperate for any distraction from the vat of fecal matter into which their party has dumped them.

Palin’s facility with dismissing the truth should also disqualify her, in my opinion, from any further credit for advancing women’s interests. She is a big, fat, phony dead weight on women’s issues, and her rise in Republican ranks will only drag down women who aspire to the authentic power of earned respect.

Palin is among the most male-identified of all women in politics. She is so snuggled into the blinders of fundamentalist Pentecostal Christianity that she joins in prayers for witch routing. She is staunchly aligned with principal-based patriarchal ideology, as evidenced by her blood-tick attachment to the belief that abortion is never warranted, even in cases of rape or incest. And for those who need another example, she is among the Neanderthal chauvinists who think it’s sporting to slaughter wolves with high-powered rifles aimed from helicopters.

John McCain did not select Sarah Palin as his running mate on the basis of her accomplishment, intelligence or vision. He selected her because she is a telegenic woman who is willing to accommodate whatever tactics squirm out of Rove’s spin-mill.

By contrast, Hillary Clinton was chosen by 18 million voters, both men and women, on the basis of her proven leadership, commitment to middle- and lower-class needs, and, oh yeah, her record. She is both a feminist and a politician, in the best and highest sense of those descriptions.

Hillary has too much class to say this to Palin, but I don’t:

“Liar, liar, thong on fire.”

Most of these establishment party-machine politicians are liars to some degree, I mean spinners. If you wanna play politics with the "big boys" then you gotta get on their team.

It takes a special individual to stand up 2 the entrenched political system in DC & our state capitols. Someone who has courage, believes in & speaks the truth, doin the right thing for the nation as a whole, fearless, who is from the common man-not an atty/millionaire, deals with the issues not ad hominem...

Look how much obama & Mccain have changed: McCain the maverick & straight-talk xpresser? and Obama the breath of fresh air who will rise above politics & get the parties to work 2gether. What a funny joke!

This recalls a question asked recently of Obama: did you meet with the Repubs to discuss the economic crisis plan? His response was, "no, i find the other party tends not to listen to me." Obama, the bridge 2 bring the parties working 2gether is just another old broken bridge. He speaks better than mccain at least.

Palin? Man, is this another example of our "leaders?" Or, just another example of how low the pols think bout us? Are we supposed 2 look up to these people? To wave their placards, stik their bumper stickers on our cars, etc.

What a joke these guys are. They r whoever they need to be to try to get votes and money.

Is there anybody out there who can live up to even this abbreviated list?? We get the politicians we deserve?!

Enuf of this waste of my time on these pols. There is so much more to this short life. I always fall into this temptation. Gotta break this addiction. A little bit of little Laurie has gotten into me.

Time to wake up & deal with the cancer in the establishment parties.

It's tough to be a doggie when you're surrounded by so many humans.

I recall being chastised by someone one this blog about a month ago because I ranted about wanting to drill baby drill into Sarah. Pat, I feel vindicated. I can't believe that anyone, let alone a women would not see through the less than idiot IQ Palin has iand actually believe she cares about anyone, male or female, other than those who like her, drink her new bag of Jesus. (Jim Jones called it Kool Aid.)

But here's the best news of all that all of us Chauvinistic assholes can look forward to... according to the comedian who opens for Lewis Black (the funniest man alive) we can expect to see Palin in Playboy about a year after she loses this election because that's the only work she'll be able to get.

Drill, baby drill? Excuse me while go hurl.

Roy, let me explain sexism to you. IT's still sexist to demean a woman even if you don't like her. By continuing to weild the weapons of the patriarchy at Palin, it makes other women -- NOT Palin -- say, screw this, I'm staying out of politics becasue I don't want to put up with the kind of sexist crap thrown at women.

It's NOT that hard to understand if you just step out of entitlement long enough to understand how entrenched and subtle misogyny is, and that misogyny Lite is still bad for ALL WOMEN.

I suggest you check out www.shakesville.com and look at some of the ways you can call Palin on her crap and not be a sexist doing it.

We need to treat people the way people tend to treat their dogs (and yeah, I suppose those cats too)- if not the way you would wanna be treated.

I know full well how ez it is 2 take shots at people from my canine perspective, but...

Just because we don't agree with them in 1 area: politics, religion, dog v. cat lover, doesn't mean we should take shots or "drill" them.

I wonder how many of the people we know/like actually have views in these areas which may differ from our own. And, if we knew all their views, what kinda person would we be if we suddenly turned on them simply bcuz there's this thing they don't agree with us on?

You say you don't have those kinda people in your life, so that's irrelevant 2 you. Well, then that's a problem 4 you. I have all kinds of crazy friends/acquaintances in my life (they're humans afterall) who have differing views in sensitive areas. Some even stay up late into the nite hunched behind trash cans just to sneak a pic in the b/w of the nite! Yep, read it in Ripley's believe or not.

But, I value them more than what politician they like. And, I give them a some rope/leash because they're people.

I did it again. Sorry. I'm fallin n2 temptation again. I'll try not 2 comment again until next week.

@ Laurie:

Time to get off your high horse sweetheart (and yes, I used that sweetheart line just to piss you off).

First off, stop regurgitating everything you hear as fact. Hilary last night said after the debate that McCain did not call her yesterday but several weeks ago. And as for my sexism or perceived sexism, so what! If what I say scares women away from voting that's their problem and if my words really do that, then they should not vote anyway. In other words if you can't stand the heat....

You really miss the point I was making...I really don't care that Palin is female and if I'm sexist, why did I, and still do, support Hillary? Duh, because she is smart. I've made my drill jokes because that's all I perceive Palin good for... and to emphasis she is as dumb as dirt and really just a pretty face that has so many people fooled it scares me. How can America be so dumb?... other than the fact we must be dumb or easily swayed by a foxy lady. (This is evidenced in the fact that even after the JonBenet Ramsy tragedy, we still have stage mom's out their forcing little girls into clothes and make up that scream sexism and it's being done by your own gender!

I made the same comments about a guy who actually did make it to the VP chair...a guy who couldn't spell tomato and has the same IQ as the bird his name came from (quail in case you're wondering.) Bottom line is dumb is dumb no matter what your gender and they ALL lie (I'm surprised it took you so long to figure that one out) or at least twist truth to their advantage, even Obama. I just prefer smart lies over dumb (Palin) lies. Perhaps, since I favor brains over beauty, you should start calling me an elitist?

I find it slightly offensive to assume that just because we have different views we are not looking past the propoganda. We are smart enough to know that there are "news" channels that favor democrats and "news" channels that favor republicans. We are smart enough to consider many different sources before we come to any conclusions about a candidate.
Just because we disagree, don't assume we are not smart enough to explore all the facts and come to a decision on our own..even if it's different from yours...

I also agree with StacyT on that...it offends me beyond belief when the "talking heads" say well, the American people don't care about this, and the American people don't know what they are talking about, they don't understand what the politicians are saying or doing, etc., etc.
For example; when McCain says, Corporations are taxed higher at 35% than in any other country in the world...what he left out is the fact that they have SO many tax breaks and legal organizational set-up loopholes that most don't pay federal tax at all and in a lot of cases any state tax either. I would love to crunch numbers on how much the corporations actually pay in on that 35% rate to what other countries corporations actually pay in....UGH!
So my point is, the average American person is not stupid...it's offensive to be told I am stupid. It's offensive when Palin runs around yelling "Friend to Terrorist" as loud as she can, and then to tell me that I don't "GET" what she is doing.
I’m going to have to agree with Roy on this one...Palin is clearly an embarrassment to the women out there who deserve (Hillary) to be in the position they are in. Not saying she isn't smart, but to be the "yes man" for John McCain and to agree to do the dirty work for him...Clearly NOT smart....

Roy, you are beyond sexist. You are verging on misanthropic. And I don't think your wife would appreciate the way you talk to or about other women. At the very least, you are quite disrespectful to her. I wouldn't dream of calling you an elitist -- unless I was being ironic. Your arguments are filled with straw men. Please, for your own sake, just LOOK at sites like Shakesville, or read a book like Backlash, to gain insight on why your kind of statements are deeply offensive to women and very, very, very bad for our daughters. I wouldn't dream of trying to argue to a black person what it's like to be the victim of racism. Don't try to explain it to sweethearts like me. That's the worst kind of entitlement thinking and it's something feminists have been fighting against since Elizabeth Cady Stanton tried to get the vote.

Stacy, I was stupid. I was fooled. I believed the hype. I was the victim of propaganda by the news -- because I started out as a journalist and assumed the 4th Estate was doing its job and actually reporting facts. INstead of getting defensive -- try to prove people like me wrong and go out and really research these issues. Many of the things written about both Obama and McCain are false. Provable and sourced lies and misrepresentations. Most of the research in blogs and on the news is simply regurgitation sourced from the opinion of other bloggers or from the mouthpieces of the campaigns. Media watchdog groups agree with me. I'm shocked and outraged by the duplicity and lies that are being fed to the public by the supposed news.

I believe we owe it to ourselves and this country to question authority on every side. EVERY side. Right and left. ANd we just don't do that in this country as a rule. Do we want to win one election? Or do we want an honest system of government? For me, the answer is clear.

Maybe you have never been fooled by a CNN "news" story or a candidate's explanation but I have, and I don't appreciate it, and I will continue to stir various pots to try to bring up the sludge that hides beneath. To turn a blind eye to the abject corruption of our own party is, in my opinion, unethical. I don't understand how we can pretend to be better than the Republicans when we won't even acknowledge how much needs to be cleaned up in our own party. SUre, we have to pick a candidate based on the lesser of evils. But to be supporters of fraud -- willing participants in corruption -- well, I just can't stand it.

INteresting take on my intention, Roy, but completely uninformed. I didn't think I'd have to explain the term straw man, but here goes:

A straw man argument is a form of informal fallacy based in misrepresentation of an opponent's position, Basically, you describe a position that superficially resembles that of your opponant and then argue the heck out of that oversimplified version making it an easier argument. It works only as a rhetorical device.

I personally think one of the Dems problems the last eight years of hell was due to the fact that we don't go Balls to the Walls and beat those Repubs at their own game. My party faced some down time after Bill (whom I, of course loved) but the down time was that we let them Demoralize us into submission and Silence us for too long.
Now we have two people in our party that had a long road to the nomination and their debating fired up all the Dems in the Senate and the House and gave us a little bit of our confidence back. We needed that fight to make us stronger...and because we are stronger, people are going to try and tear us down again. That's bull...politics is UGLY...we had to get in the flipping game again! Bottom line.
SO forgive me if I don't have the time to read the entire internet, listen to every news station both to the left and the right, sort through every newspaper and do and all out investigation.
I believe in the Dems, I believe in Hillary, I believe Obama has been tested and proven through his debating with her...and there is also something to say about INTUITION...GUT FEELING...my gut tells me, just like it did when I was fighting to get Bill elected, that Obama has a clear vision...his vision on every fundamental issue is in line with mine and most Dems...the next President will surely get to nominate one Supreme Court Judge, possible two..and I will be heart-broken if we get silenced into submission again....UGH!!!

Nik, so you're basically saying the ends justify the means? That being as dirty and corrupt as Rove and the Pax Americana neocons is okay because we're somehow on the side of the right issues? I'd almost agree with you if I thought Obama, Dean, and Pelosi were true progressives.

I respect your viewpoint, though. I just wish the pols were as honest and good=hearted and fair-minded as YOU. YOU SHOULD RUN FOR OFFICE!!!

No, that isn't what I meant..I'm just glad that we TOUGHENED up a bit...and I have a hard time getting all up in arms about ACORN, voter fraud, its hard to buy into it when we haven't even had the election yet??!!! ALso, even in little ole KY when you walk into vote you have to show them your drivers license, which they write your DL # down by your name...so if Mickey Mouse did register vote...its hard for me to see how he will actually place that vote...w/o a drivers license!!!!

6:27 PM

Blogger Laurie Allee said...

I've never shown my drivers license when I vote. I just tell them my name and sign on the print out. For a long time I was still registered in Venice even though I had moved to West LA. I could have voted twice in those elections if I were so inclined. My neighbor in Venice told me I still got ballots sent to that address.

I've heard that some states require a DL but I've never once done it in California. Is this a new Federal law? Also, you can have a zillion absentee ballots from fraudulent sources. Those are just sent to an address.

Laurie, I do not have to "prove people like you wrong"..that is not my job.......As for your assumption that I was tricked or fooled..again..very offensive. You are not the only person on the planet who can read and listen to facts and fiction about a candidate and then make an informed decision based on what you have learned. I dont mind you questioning everything about Obama, just like we question everything about McCain. I dont mind that the conclusions you come to are not the same conclusions that I come to. I actually feel we could learn from hearing different opinions and points of views.I just believe that we can get our points accros without being condesceding and rude..I wish you felt the same...How's that for being defensive???

Stacy, you misunderstood me. I was pointing out that I was fooled -- frequently -- and that it's next to impossible to GET information from the news. I honestly, truly was not being condescending. Outraged, yes, at the lack of real investigative news. Outraged at the lies. Outraged that so many good hearted people are being manipulated by corrupt representatives. ANd mostly astounded that the same people are calling the Republicans corrupt while ignoring the hideous things that have happened at the hands of our own party in this election. I wanted you to look for these details becasue I myself was shocked when I learned -- about the caucus fraud, about Obama's chicago machine, about Dean/Pelosi/Reid's coup of the party and ousting at all costs of Hillary who actually WON the primary. I just want you and everyone to look into these things because I'm passionate about our party remaining the party of fairness and justice.

I'm astounded that whistleblowing on our own side is met with such resistance. If I were to bring up these things about the RIGHT -- you'd be high fiving me.

It's hard to get the inflection of tone in written blog posts. I'm frustrated with CORRUPTION AND LIES! I want my party back! ANd I want everyone to feel the same way. I'm very sorry if I come across as imperious or hectoring, and certainly don't want to come across as condescending. I'm just a complete curmudgeon who is disgusted with everything -- but I meant absolutely no disrespect.
